Stopped in Sunday morning on the fourth of July holiday weekend for breakfast on our way through town. The sign on top of the building is what drew us in which said "best premier breakfast in town" or something to that effect. Well only one waitress was working the entire place and it was packed, therefore service was very slow, but the waitress was VERY friendly and really enjoyed her job. When the food came I was sorely dissapointed. The Bacon/Cheese/Peppers omellette I ordered came with little bits of mushrooms mixed in the green peppers (I hate mushrooms), there was barely any bacon that I could recognize or taste. The hashbrowns were barely cooked, more like Mushbrowns and the toast was warmed bread not toasted at all. The only thing good about the breakfast was the one cup of coffee I managed to get out of the waitress.

Obviously a friendly hometown place. Traveling through town we decided to stop here for diner. Normally this would be a three star review. I hate to say that, however there are a few things that set this place over the top. Service was great a friendly, gave us two sodas when we asked for one and didn't charge for the other, upgraded our pizza to large because they didn't have any more medium dough and topped off the dinner with some amazing homemade cookies for a buck each. Cookies were great when you are on a long road trip. Pizza was pretty good topping were fresh, side salad was fresh, good greens and veggies.

When the Crazy Norwegian is closed, come here for good seafood! If the locals recommend it than it's worth it! The clam chowder is pretty good but hubby had the seafood platter and said it's Damn Good! It sure looked good...... The French fries are Huge and tasty. Recommend getting them on the side.

I really like finding gems like this in the middle of no where. We were going to try to stop in Saturday on the way into Gold Beach, but it was late, I'm not sure if they were open still, it did not look like it though. We made a point to stop in on the way out. Let me tell you what, these little mom and pop run places are something else. You get excellent service and great conversation. This place was outright cute!! Only one regular in the bar at the time and very friendly. Our bartender was an older gentleman, Frank I think his name was. He told us his son runs the one the Old Chicagos out here in Beaverton, will have to check that out next. If his son runs restaurants anything like his old man, something is going right!! I wish this kind of place was nearby.. *sighs* alas, some of the places we frequent will have to do! They have a nice big sofa and a Karaoke area if you are into that sort of thing. I wish I had seen the sofa earlier, I would have sat there and had lunch lol. The food was pretty yummy too, BF had the roast beef sammy and I had the scallops I think the lunch portion, I guess I should have gotten the dinner portion, I did not get enough to eat. I was OK though. I really enjoyed this little place, it''s the kind of place you want to remember to come back to or say hey lets do it again, but sadly never do. Keep up the good work folks!

This restaurant has been sold and is under new ownership. The location is now called Agates Food & Bar.

The restaurant was closed so we had to eat in the bar. (not a bar person so my review is tainted by that). The waitress was friendly and helpful. We split a Bay Shrimp Linguine and there was plenty for each of us. We also split a dinner salad which was very good. They had no pie's or desserts so we were disappointed with that but - did we really need one. The decor is old and dingy and not a place I would bring a family. For a quick dinner it was OK - but we would probably try somewhere else next time.

I was on a road trip and craving some nice breakfast. I chose this place since there was nothing else nearby by cafes. The service was warm and friendly. I got a french toast and it was well-made with a proper portion size. Great place to stop by if you are ever driving through.

All told, not a bad restaurant. Good fresh grilled tuna (locally caught), a fresh salad, and fries. No wine list to speak of and the wine we ordered was corked. Good selection of local beers on tap, however. Very nice and attentive service people.

If you want a great bowl of clam chowder, this is your place. The rest of our meal was very good. Although the food was excellent, this restaurant does not hire enough wait staff. Our poor server was waiting on six tables, the only wait server in the house! She was very nice and as attentive as she could be. I would give her five stars, but management only one. If you don't have a time limit on dining then this place is yours. If you do, you will miss a great bowl of clam chowder, but keep on driving.

We stopped here to grab breakfast on our way out of town. We didn't notice until after we ordered that every table in the restaurant hadn't received their orders yet. We waited and watched as food slowly started coming from the kitchen. In the hour that we sat there, 3 tables were served. Our waitress offered us one coffee refill while we waited and didn't bother to check in or update us to our orders status once. While we sat, we saw one table wait over 10 minutes at their table to place an order, then 5 more minutes at the counter before any server acknowledged them. We saw a customer walk back towards the kitchen to serve themselves coffee. When one table who had been waiting longer than us asked for an estimate to when their food would arrive, they were answered rudely that they should have expected an hour wait and there were tables still ahead of them. We were the third table to leave without eating and when we got up to pay for our coffee and leave, weren't even offered an apology for our wasted time. We drove out and went to the Crazy Norwegian and had the best fish tacos and clam chowder bread bowl ever in less than 15 minutes of walking in the door. Don't bother with the Port and Starboard.

Wife and I stopped in for dinner. Fast friendly service on a quiet night at the restaurant. Had oyster linguini in pesto sauce with a house salad. Both great and very reasonably priced. Wife had clam chowder and fish and chips. Chowder was super and fish and chips were very well prepared. We were both very full and completely satisfied. Highly recommend for a fresh and fast meal at a very affordable price. Would definitely return.

If you are in Port Orford on a morning, don't miss the Port & Starboard Restaurant. It is is a breakfast lovers MUST. 3 eggs sunny side up, 2 sausage patties, hash browns and sour dough toast...all done to perfection--and all for a reasonable price. What's not to like? The service was great and the waitress was helpful friendly. If Port Orford isn't on your trip plans, put it there.

I had the fresh fish sandwich and it was delicious. This was the only place open on an Sunday and we were a bit worried, but the food was great and the staff was wonderful. She even stayed open later so we had time to enjoy our meal!

Do not come here for fresh fish. I was on the coast visiting family. Chose this restruant because of the variety in the menu. Picky children, you know. Well maybe this should have tipped me off. Too much dabbling makes for master at nothing. I wanted some fresh fish. Everything we tried to order was replied with "we dont have that" (at least 5 items). The fish they did have was small, cold, dry and tasted old. Vegetables were soggy, salty and cold. mashed potatoes were dry and cold also. Good luck; some people obviously liked it.

My girlfriend and I were on a trip down to the Redwoods of Southern Cascadia and needed a decent lunch. After searching Yelp for anything nearby we decided on Port & Starboard. When we walked in I was reminded of my childhood a little bit. Just the dim light, few windows and the smell. It definitely brought me back to the early 90's. The waitress brought us out some water in what would be best be described as a shot glass. Not sure why they do that, it's not like good water in Oregon is expensive. The food was decent. I ordered a chicken strip basket with fries. The fries were my favorite part of the meal. They were crispy and massive, thick cut steak fries. Overall the place wasn't bad, but if you're heading south and can wait till Crescent City or Brookings, I would.

We were a little leery when we first walked in; the decor is tacky 70's, but then we noticed that it was clean, it was also very quiet - which left us with that awkward feeling of entering a gathering where nobody knows anyone else, and didn't want to be the first to say anything. Music sets the tone in an environment. When the waitress brought the menu, we were a bit surprised at the size of it. Too many choices, but everything we ordered (party of four), was great! I'll put it this way - Gordon Ramsay would have a ball in this place. He would gut the interior, pare down the menu (put the focus on the barbecue, the awesome homemade soup, fish and chips). My fear is the size of the menu. It is the certain demise of a small town restaurant. Definite "give it a try."

The Port and Starboard Restaurant in the little Oregon coastal town of Port Orford is one of the more affordable places to dine. As another reviewer mentioned, the decor is waaaaaay old school and could use an update. It was very quiet. They have quite a large menu to choose from, which is fine with me, as I like a lot of choices. Whether a large menu is necessarily a good or bad thing, you be the judge. My wife and I had a couple seafood baskets. She had the Alaskan Cod with fries and I had the clams with fries. She said enjoyed the fish. The fries that came our way where big, think steak fries and were nice and hot. I wish that the menu had told me that the clams were Razor clams, which I don't care for. Nonetheless, both entrees were lightly beer-battered and flavorful. The coleslaw included with both baskets was dry and tasteless. Portions will satisfy a moderate appetite. We both ended up bringing about a quarter of our meal home with us. Prices aren't too bad, but since Port Orford is such a small town, I tend to get the impression that most eateries there feel that since they have such a captive audience, they can inflate the prices. Whether that's a fair assumption of the Port and Starboard, you'll have to make the call. Our server was very friendly and service speed was adequate. There was only one other couple in the restaurant. Overall, it was pretty good. Nothing I'd necessarily recommend to someone, but it is a viable option in this tiny town.

We really enjoy eating here. The food is good and reasonably priced and the service is friendly, though the one and only time we had bad service was when the owner was covering for a waitress. Will continue to go back and recommend it to friends.
